Executive Director, Academic Advising
Bethany rejoined the AAC team in August 2018 after having served as a Graduate Assistant in the office 8 years prior. She oversees the AAC Academic Advising team and the Transfer Services team and serves as the co-chair of BSU’s Academic Advising Network. The Academic Advisors challenge, support, and encourage BSU students who are transitioning at different points in their academic career including new first year students, Undecided students, and those working to get back into Good Standing. The Transfer Services team welcomes and connects new transfer students at BSU. Bethany’s goals include building relationships, connecting students to resources and opportunities, and engaging the BSU community in conversations about advising as the foundation for student achievement.
Jenna Shales, MS
Executive Director, Student Accessibility Services
Jenna joined BSU in 2019 and has guided the rapid and innovative growth of Student Accessibility Services, expanding both the number of students served and the scope of supports provided. SAS has strengthened its role as a collaborative resource for the entire campus, advancing accessibility practices that benefit students, faculty, and staff. Jenna and the SAS Team remain committed to strengthening BSU’s capacity to create accessible, inclusive environments that promote student success.
Matt Koskowski, MFA
Director of Operations, Academic Advising
Matt joined the AAC in March 2019, and his first day of work at BSU was a snow day. He oversees Academic Advising operations in the AAC which includes supervision of professional advisors, implementation and development of advising technology, and managing advising-related data. His goals include helping AAC Academic Advisors support their advisees the best the can and helping anyone at BSU use available advising technology to make their lives easier.
Kathryn Crisostomo, MS
Director, Learning Assistance
Kathryn joined the AAC in 2016 and oversees the area of Learning Assistance, which includes Academic Coaching and Tutoring. She collaborates with the Assistant Director of Learning Assistance, Graduate Assistants, and a team of four Faculty Directors who oversee the areas of Math Services, Accounting and Finance, the Writing Studio, and Tutoring for Multilingual Students. She also directly oversees CRIT and Core Tutoring. Her goal in Learning Assistance is to support students in their learning and to help them achieve academic success at BSU.
Tabitha Smith, MA
Director, Student Accessibility Services
Tabitha began her work with Student Accessibility Services in 2018 as a Graduate Assistant and became a professional staff member in 2020. A “Double Bear,” she completed both her undergraduate and graduate degrees at Bridgewater State University and, in collaboration with the SAS Team, has expanded the Peer Mentor Program and social programming, launched the Access Advocates Program to empower community advocacy for accessibility, and partnered with students and campus stakeholders on mobility planning to promote physical access. She continues to work with students, colleagues, and campus partners to advance these initiatives and foster an accessible, welcoming experience for all members of the BSU community.
Alex Khoury, MS
Director, Testing Services
Alex joined Testing Services in July 2021 and now leads a comprehensive, multi-site testing operation as Director of Testing Services. He supervises the Testing Services team and oversees placement testing, accommodated testing for academic courses, and a wide range of licensure and certification exams, including MTEL, GRE, and other high-stakes programs. Under his leadership, the operation has grown from a single 13-seat room to more than 60 seats across multiple locations and now administers over 12,000 exams annually across 700+ exam types spanning many different career paths. He has focused on expanding secure computer-based capacity, streamlining procedures, and strengthening partnerships across campus and with external testing partners to make testing more accessible, efficient, and student-centered. Alex is committed to providing a high-quality, professional testing environment where every test taker can feel prepared, supported, and confident on exam day.
Jeffery Sarahs, MEd
Director, Transfer Services
Jeff serves as Director of Transfer Services, where he oversees the daily operations of the Transfer Center along with the professional staff, graduate assistants, and transfer ambassadors who represent our office. The top priorities of the Transfer Services office include, but are not limited to: creating seamless and transfer-friendly processes/policies, ensuring new transfers receive informative and supportive advising, identifying and building articulation agreements with partner institutions, developing efficient transfer-credit review processes, evolving to meet the needs of our diverse learners, and creating opportunities to help guide our campus in utilizing an equitable transfer-student lens.
